Comcast Business Recognized by Frost & Sullivan for Its Strategic Focus on the SMB Segment in the Hosted IP Telephony Services Market

Comcast Business has leveraged its broad product and service portfolios, flexible connectivity options, and cost savings to address the specific pain points of small businesses

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — August 1, 2018 — Based on its recent analysis of the North American voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) services market for the small- and medium-sized business (SMB) segment, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Comcast Business with the 2018 North American Competitive Strategy Innovation and Leadership Award. Comcast Business was one of the first providers in North America to launch hosted IP telephony services, and continues to stay ahead of the curve through constant solution enhancements, offer of new services, and unwavering commitment to meeting the needs of the SMB segment. It has achieved higher-than-market average growth rates on the strength of its effective strategy execution, high price/performance value, and excellent solution ownership experiences.

Acknowledging the expanding opportunity in the next-generation services space, Comcast Business intensified its product development and sales efforts. It now boasts six clearly differentiated solutions that serve organizations across the migration spectrum, from businesses looking to adopt end-to-end cloud communications solutions to businesses moving only certain communications capabilities to a hosted network. The solutions include Business VoiceEdge, Business VoiceEdge Select, Business Voice Mobility, Business Voice, Business VoiceEdge Primary Rate Interface (PRI), and Business VoiceEdge SIP.

“Comcast Business continues to consistently win market share among businesses with fewer than 100 users, while competitors focus on larger accounts,” said Elka Popova, Vice President. “Each solution is aimed at a specific end-user segment, such as mobile-only micro-businesses, or SMBs with a mix of desk-bound and mobile workers. Business VoiceEdge SIP and PRI enable Comcast to better address the needs of SMBs with more sophisticated premises-based infrastructure and even penetrate larger and/or distributed organizations.”

Comcast VoIP solutions can be highly complementary in a mixed communications environment. For example, Business Voice customers can employ the Business Voice Mobility option and use many of the capabilities of the cloud-based mobile solution, even while retaining their on-premises voice platforms. For multi-site businesses in particular, it offers either a value-added capability that can be shared between Unified Communications-as-a-Service (UCaaS) and on-premises users and provides an intermediate set of capabilities while a customer is in transition.

“All of Comcast Business voice services are configured and provisioned on a customer-by-customer basis, so the provider takes a consultative approach when working with customers to design these services. Furthermore, Comcast VoIP solutions can be managed through convenient customer portals that can be accessed on any Internet device,” noted Popova. “Overall, Comcast VoIP services provide a compelling value proposition to small businesses looking for flexible, feature-rich, and cost-effective alternatives to premises-based systems and legacy voice services.”

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has leveraged competitive intelligence to successfully execute a strategy that results in stronger market share, competitive brand positioning, and customer satisfaction.
